Now a days all of you look excited about Windows Vista Ultimate DreamScene which will allow you to play high-definition video content as your wallpaper. Dreamscene is only available for Windows Vista Ultimate users, but do you know that, you can play video as a wallpaper on your Vista Home Premium or Basic version or even on Windows XP also?
Download VLC Media Player and open any video in it.
Right click on the video and click on “Wallpaper”
That’s it. You have an animated wallpapers now!
If don’t see the wallpaper option:
Settings > Preferences > Video > Output Modules > Direct X
Check the Advanced Options box in the bottom right hand corner.
Check Enable Wallpaper Mode. Now when you right click on your videos, you should be able to see a Wallpaper option.
Video Looping:
Settings > Preferences > Playlist >Repeat All
For removing VLC from the taskbar
Settings > Preferences -> Interface -> Main Interface -> wxWidgets and uncheck Taskbar and enable Systray icon.
CHANGE WINDOWS XP TO WINDOWS VISTA COLORS
- From the Control Panel double-click Display
- From the Appearance Tab click-on the Advanced button
- From the Items pull-down menu select & change the color values below
- Repeat for all colors below
- Click OK twice

Ive been looking for side bars for windows XP and i found this..
its a copy of the vista side bar with lots of gagets with it,
as u see on the sreenshot i have it installed on xp.
there is link to forum where u can download without registration,
and a tutorial how to install it.

I use windows student edition sp2 and UX Theme Patcher V.4.0 worked flawlessly! Just be sure to follow the directions and let it stand for 1 minute before you hit cancel! I was looking for a way to have the vista eyecandy with xp without any third party software. ROCKETDOCK is kinda an extra if you want a to clean up all the shortcuts off you desk top and turn them into a much neater organized way, you can tweak all options! LITESTEP or THE ASHTONSHELL are two other options that replace the whole shell in windows, so they are actually using even less resources! BLACKBOX is also worth mentioning, also a shell replacement mimicking Linux! If you want to go all out try adding TrueTransparency, add some cool packs from DEVIANT ART ! In 30 mins to an hour you will have your desktop PIMPED out in no time! Its a whole new world with all that bling and can be quite addictive! I use 1680 X 1050 by default on my 22″ Lcd and the true type fonts in largest mode looks FANTASTIC and dont forget about winamps opacity setting, some cool effects with the Vista AeroGlass themes! This is for those who wish to have a sidebar in xp that looks like the real vista sidebar, you have to work and hack a little to get the REAL sidebar to work, and from what I hear it is a real system hog compared to this one! That is why I recommend thoosjes sidebar because its easy to install for most, though I am testing the real Vista sidebar in a few days and will post how it went l8tr. I never really cared too much about themes on my windows machines in the past mainly because of saving all the system resources for applications and high power games. Today with most computers they come out of the box with 2 to 4 gig of memory on the average. With xp out the door to the new vista (So Microsoft would like to think anyway.) and now windows 7 era. From what ive read about windows 7 being able to change styles is gonna be standard. Here is a way to make xp look real close to vista o.s. using a very small footprint on your system resources.
