The problem is that Firefox (and other browsers) resolve the DNS locally and not remotely i.e. not via the proxy. It is possible to configure Firefox to resolve the DNS remotely, but the configuration is tricky.

You cannot find the configuration in the normal configuration menu. You must open the following link in Firefox: about:config

This will allow you to modify the advanced configuration options found in the various Mozilla configuration files. Right click on the value to alter and a dialog box will appear to allow changes.

Make sure you do not change anything you are uncertain about.
